Travel with Nads: Following the Northern Lights

My Client's Solo Trip to Sweden

As a certified travel advisor and environmental psychologist, I enjoy helping people explore the holistic benefits of changing their environment for self-discovery and well-being.

Whether traveling to a new continent or finding hidden gems in the local area, a change in environment can bring new perspectives and open the door to meaningful life experiences and growth.

For my client, Tiffany, seeing the Northern Lights was a bucket-list experience.

Relatably, this goal did not come with a due date or detailed plan, but came as an opportunity to escape the political climate and tension in the United States at the start of 2025. Tiffany, a lifelong photographer, understands the importance of timing, and her photographs capture the magic in that.

“It is in this flow state, that I feel the most grounded in self, connected to my creative expressions, and aligned with my life’s purpose.”

Csikzentmihalyi(2024); Takes With Nads, Unfreeze your life in the Winter” (2025)

If you’re a TwN subscriber and have been following my Solo Flow Series, you may be familiar with the theory of flow and examples of how to incorporate flow in your everyday life. Flow can be described as a focused consciousness, and through our passions, we can cultivate an authentic flow experience (Csikzentmihalyi, 2024).

Although Tiffany traveled independently to a place completely different from home, Tiffany’s love for adventure and photography allowed her to find beauty in the darkness and peace within her solo travel.
